Passing of Lajos Máté, Hungary

Announcement from Josef Hollos, President CEC

Josef Hollos has announced that our good old Hungarian theatre friend Lajos Máté, for many years the Hungarian representative in AITA/IATA and CEC, passed away this morning, Friday 29 October 2011 at the age of 83.

Lajos was for a many of us a shining example of a fighter for professionalism in amateur-theatre; a man always building bridges between systems and contradictory philosophies; a man with wit and great humour; a big actor and director.

Our AITA/IATA and CEC theatre-world and the members and friends of the Hungarian National Centre and his family will miss him greatly. We will keep him in our memories.
