Together for theatre – together for peace!

Welcome to the next International Amateur Theatre Festival of AITA/IATA asbl in Tromsø, Norway 14th – 24th July 2011.

Click here to find out where Tromsø is located.

The theme of the Festival is DIALOGUE and the aim of the festival is to promote peace through the medium of theatre; to initiate dialogue across borders; and to keep dialogue open. Together for theatre – together for peace!

Amateur Theatre groups of the highest artistic quality drawn from every genre, type and style of theatrical performance from all over the world are invited to attend for the entire festival. The number of participants in each group is not limited; however, the organiser will only pay for the accommodation and full board for 10 people per theatre group for the whole of the festival. The General Rules of the Festival are attached and I urge you to read these carefully as they will provide you with all the information you need. If you have any questions about the General Rules please send these directly to the Organising Committee at the address below.

We kindly ask you, as the National Centre or appropriate body, to inform the Organising Committee and the Secretariat of AITA/IATA by June 30th 2010 if you wish to participate in the Festival. Your request to participate should be sent by post or email to the Organizing Committee at the address below and copied to secretariat@aitaita.org

1. a letter of recommendation from the national centre, according to article 19, legitimising the choice of the group and the performance, and guaranteeing that they represent amateur theatre in the applicant nation;
2. a certificate signed by selection structure members (according to article 19), guaranteeing the high quality of the performance (according to article 5);
3. an historical description of the group and its activity;
4. the full text of the play or the scenario in the case of a non-text play, in either French, English or in Spanish;
5. the play synopsis;
6. the list of actors and their character;
7. the detailed technical design;
8. ten different photographs (colour and/or black and white) of the play;
9. unless there is a strong reason not to do so, a video recording, DVD or VHS standard, of the entire play, taken in wide shot with a fixed camera.

An international Selection Committee will decide which groups will participate and you will know if you have been successful by the end of November 2010.
