This was a magnificent event, held on behalf of aita/iata and Vice President Roger Ellis, French Speaking Secretary Jacques Lemaire and myself would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for giving us the opportunity to see and experience this event and for the opportunity to meet theatre groups from all over the world.

New contacts are so important for our movement and I am pleased to say that the organizers in Toyama are devoted to the promotion and celebration of amateur theatre. Continue reading »

From Hungary to the international friends of Mr KOIZUMI Hiroshi, all over the world

On 29th June Mr. Koizumi will be awarded the “Knight’s Cross of the Hungarian Merit Order” which is the highest state decoration foreign citizens can get in Hungary. Over the years he has made 52 visits to Hungary and has created many international exchange programs.

The award will be given in Toyama by the Hungarian Ambassador. A short programme of poems and songs performed by the Players Studio Debrecen will celebrate this event.

Our Hungarian friends ask that you send Mr. Koizumi a letter of congratulation to make him even more happy and that you let all our iata/aita friend know about it.

The Amateur Theatre Association of Finland arranges every year a domestic festival for the best amateur theatre performances held during the year and it is called Seinäjoen Harrastajateatterikesä. The festival is situated in the western part of the country in the city of Seinäjoki which is famous for its city centre, designed by architect Alvar Aalto. Last year, in 2011, the festival was held in August.

After many years of good co-operation with Japan it was a pleasure to receive important guests from Japan and I was very happy to host The Theatre Company Bungeiza who participated in this most important festival. Continue reading »
