Who can join AITA/IATA and what are the benefits?

Anyone can join AITA/IATA

There are 3 simple ways to do this:

  • If your organisation represents amateur theatre on a national basis in your country, you can apply for National Centre status
  • If there is already an organisation representing amateur theatre on a national basis in your country, then you can access AITA/IATA and our services through them

AITA/IATA is your gateway to a wider and more rewarding international theatre experience.

What can AITA/IATA do for you?

    • Dear Jeevan A N Singh

Thank you for your enquiry about joining aita/iata. As an Associate of aita/iata you pay an annual fee of Euro 50 as India falls into Category 2. Once you join, you will be able to apply to take part in the next aita/iata biannual World Amateur Theatre Festival in 2015 (selection has been made for the festival this year in Monaco) and the Children’s Festivals to be held in 2014 in Lingen (see elsewhere on this website) and in 2016 in Stratford, Ontario, Canada.

If you look on this page on this web site you find a link to an application form which has details of how you pay your fee to aita/iata. If you complete this and email it to me – secretariat@aitaiata.org I can alert the Treasurer to a forthcoming payment.

You may wish to get in touch with with Mr Agrawal, President of NIPA, who is the contact in the aita/iata National Centre, India. His details are on this page of this website.

I hope that this is helpful but if you do have any further questions, please get in touch with me at the above email.

      • we are from cyprus.sorry I forgot to mention you’re right

      • Dear Stella

Cyprus falls into Category 1 and so the annual fee to become an Associate of aita/iata would be Euro 100. There is no aita/iata National Centre for Cyprus and so I cannot point you in the direction of an organisation already connected with Cyprus that can advise you further.

Cyprus falls within the aita/iata Region CEC (Central European Region) and you could contact the President of CEC, Mr Josef Hollos, if you would like any further information. His email address is josef.hollos@chello.at

  7. I am from Bangladesh, and I would like to become an aita/iata Associate and I need to have direct link with you. I want to join AITA/IATA. I have theatre company. Please inform me & send application form.

    Alamgir
    Bangladesh

    • Dear Alamgir Mahmud

Thank you for your enquiry about joining aita/iata. You will see from the website that we are an organisation for amateur theatre, our Associate members undertake theatre for the love of theatre, not for payment.

Your website is very informative and interesting but you appear to be a commercial organisation and it would seem that it is not appropriate for you to become an Associate of aita/iata. If I have not fully understood your organisation do please get in touch again. Might I also suggest that you get in touch with the aita/iata National Centre in Bangladesh and Mr L Ali Lucky, details are on this site under Members of aita/iata.

      Best wishes

Or would you like to consider joining aita/iata as an Associate? If so, do please email me directly – secretariat@aitaiata.org.

  9. Hello,

I am from Bangladesh, and I would like to become an aita/iata Associate and I need to have direct link with you. I was trying to connect our National Centre in Bangladesh, but it was kind or hard to deal. I download the application form but i still did not get with categories. What is my category Thank you in advance.

    • Dear Dr Md Shakhawat Ullah Chowdhury

Many thanks for your enquiry about becoming an aita/iata Associate.

Your category is Category 2 and as such you would pay Euro 50 a year. I will email you separately with the form.

  10. Hi, I would like to become an aita/iata Associate, I’m from Iran and I have theater agency company to promote and present iranian theater groups to festivals around the world.
I’d like to know what are the conditions and how could I become a member?

    Thanks in advance.

    Bests,

    Sepehr Sharifzadeh

    • Dear Sepehr Sharifzadeh

Many thanks for your interest in aitat/iata and your interest in being an Associate.

I note that you say that you have a theatre agency company: I am afraid that your organisation does not sound as if it falls within the ambit of aita/iata which is for organisations connected with amateur theatre. Most aita/iata Associates are amateur theatre groups and it does not sound as if your organisation falls into this category.

If I am wrong, do please let me know.

      Best wishes

  11. Dear AITA,
My name is Umidjon Yorkulov and I am from Uzbekistan. I am a representative of Uzbek Theatre-studio “Tanovar Sadosi”. However, it has not been long time since our theatre was opened. The theatre group along with its chief director have already participated in the Festival held in Almati in November 2012 and recieved Grand Prix.
Dear AITA, we highly interested in becoming an associate, but still we have many questions concerning the enrollement as an associate to IATA. How and whom could we contact as there is no national centre in our country?
Furthermore, is there any email address or contact number that we can communicate?
    Sincerely,
    Umid

    • Dear Umid
Many thanks for your interest in aita/iata and in becoming an Associate.

I must clarify that aita/iata is for organisations that are involved in amateur theatre – they perform without payment for the love of it. If your organisation falls into that category do please get in touch with me at secretariat@aita/iata.org. The lack of a National Centre in Uzbekistan is not an issue for you joining as an Associate.
I found this very interesting document on the web about safeguarding the intangible cultural heritage of Uzbekistan (http://www.irci.jp/assets/files/ParticipantsReports/Uzbekistan_Report.PDF). Perhaps the Ministry of Culture and Sports might be an appropriate organisation to consider becoming your country’s National Centre?

      Best wishes

  12. If there isn’t a centre in Australia, can we still apply to join?

    • Dear Lia

Thank you for your inquiry. Sadly, there is no longer an Australian National Centre. But if you are interested in becoming part of aita/iata, then your group Pantseat Productions could consider becoming and Associate of aita/iata. The information on the Categories and Fees page (HERE) gives the relevant information.

If you would like more information, or wish to consider further about joining aita/iata do please get in touch with me at secretariat@aitaiata.org

  13. Hello,

I am from Russia, and I would like to become an aita/iata Associate and I need to have direct link with you. I was trying to connect our National Centre in Moscow, but it was kind or hard to deal. I download the application form but i still did not get with categories. What is my category if i am from Russian Federation. Thank you in advance.

    • Dear Polina
Thank you for your enquiry, we are now in correspondence on the matter and we look forward to you becoming an Associate of aita/iata very shortly.

      Kind regards

      Anne Gilmour

  14. Hello,

May I ask you to provide more information concerning the enrollement as associate to IATA?
As I saw ther is no national Center in our region (Greece). Are ther any prerequisites?
Is there any private email address that we can communicate?

I will really appreciate your reply

    Kind reagrds,

    • Dear Anna

You are correct, there is no National Centre for Greece. But there is an Associate – The Philotechnique Society of Mytilene which you can see here. You may wish to become Greece’s second Associate and your fee would be E100.

If you consider that your organisation to be suitable to represent Greece as a National Centre, then you would need to first become an Affiliate. More information is here.

Do please email me at secretariat@aitaiata.org for more information or to discuss this further.

      Kind regards
