Children & Youth

Children and Youth have a voice in AITA/IATA asbl through a standing committee which exists to ensure that issues relating to children and youth are central concerns for AITA/IATA asbl. It was established in 1995 as a development from the former Drama in Education sub-committee. The World Congress elects the co-ordinator for Children and Youth. The current co-ordinator, elected in Monaco 2013 is Josef Hollos from Austria. SCCY Members with President Rob Van Genechten There are three official AITA/IATA asbl events that are the active concern of the committee:

The festival is in Lingen every four years and somewhere else in the world in-between. In 2000, the event was in Toyama, Japan. In 2002 in Lingen, Germany. In 2004 the event was held in Havana, Cuba. B. AITA/IATA asbl World Festival of Youth Theatre

The first World Festival of Youth Theatre was held in Vienna, Austria in 2009. A World Festival of Youth Theatre celebrates the world of young people in a creative, non-competitive, safe and open atmosphere. Each festival has at its core, the appreciation of cultural differences and similarities through the production of high-quality theatre. Each Festival is a forum where young people meet not only as theatre-creators, but also as theatre-audience. Within the perspective of young adults performing for their peers, it is also a forum for discussion amongst themselves about what they have seen and to inspire them for future productions. • Dear Che Shankar

      Thank you for your enquiry.

Information on membership of aita/iata is on this page. I don’t know which country you are from, so I cannot advise about your fee category. I assume that you would wish to join as an Associate for which an annual fee is payable. This enables you to apply to perform in various aita/iata festivals and events such as the World Amateur Theatre Festival, the Lingen Children’s Festival in 2014 and the Stratford Children’s Festival in 2016, in Canada.

Do get in touch if you would like more information – secretariat@aitaiata.org
